A sugar (free) Christmas and New Year

By Ed Dychauco Pots and Pans

DIABETES is on the rise and many people now watch their intakes, be it real food or desserts. This disease condition need not stop a person from taking the food they wanted to eat. Yes! They still can, it's just that food be in correct portions and divided accordingly to what their body needs so as to balance their caloric intake. Most of the foods nowadays are loaded with synthetic and artificial ingredients, which are harmful to our health.

Christmas and New Year, being weeks away, one would definitely be indulging in foods and more foods! And one can never take their eyes away from the tempting, sinfully rich and delectable desserts on the feast table. Fear not, my friends, because now, on its 30th year in business, Pots and Pans Home Bake & Coffee Shop is introducing it's newest product line -- "sugar-free" (and hopefully guilt-less free) desserts.
But then again, I would like to remind everyone that just because it's sugar-free, it doesn't mean that one can gulp everything down! One must still practice portioning and checking their caloric needs. Using a natural plant derivative sweetener that is calorie-free, the desserts tastes like almost the real thing, just less the calories and the sweetness of real sugar. Not only that, the finish products do not have the after taste of most sugar free items in the market which lingers on your mouth sometime. After several trials, I can proudly say that I have finally come up with several desserts that one can truly enjoy, not only during the holiday season, but through out the year!
For this holiday season, one can try our newest offerings, sugar-free Fudgy and Moist Chocolate Cake, Apple-Nut Loaf, Carrot Raisin Loaf, Banana Sour-Cream Loaf, Brownies, muffins and cookies and many, many more, all sugar-free. And of course, one can continue to enjoy the regular and new desserts and goodies that Pots and Pans through the years has to offer like: Chocolate Moist cake, Triple Delight cake, Black Forest, Mango Rhum cake, Durian cake, Rhum-Raisin cookies, Apple muffins, Chocolate crinkles, Cheese rolls, Christmas butter cookies and assorted brownies and bars, to name a few.
Another goodie that is sure to be a hit in the market is "Pastel de Pots" an original recipe that came from one of the original makers in Camiguin during the 40's and 50's. Having demonstrated this recipe during the Filipino-Chinese Bakery Association Exposition held somewhere ago at the World Trade Center in Metro Manila, Pastel de Pots was shared and enjoyed by many baking enthusiasts there. One might probably ask what makes this pastel different from other pastel in the market? Let's just say, it's better, totally different and one has to try it to believe it!
Pots and Pans Home Bake & Coffee Shop offers culinary classes and also sell baking and cooking ingredients and gadgets and is conveniently located along Don Apolinar Velez St., corner Hayes St., Cagayan de Oro City with tel nos. 72-46-75 and 858-4209 or email at potsnpans1976@yahoo.com
