Ginoong Kadayawan 2006

ONE of the most awaited activities during the Kadayawan Festival in Davao City is the holding of the annual search for "Ginoong Kadayawan" on August 19, 2006 at the NCCC Mall. Now on its 4th year, it promises to be a grand show of body form enhanced by the theme of the celebration that would fulfill your fantasies of the ultimate male physique! The competition aims to showcase the Dabawenyo body form as a gift from Mother Nature, also a fitting contribution to the celebration of the blessings bestowed by the Supreme Being to Davao City and its people.

The search for "Ginoong Kadayawan 2006" (battle of the champions) shall be highlighted by the parade of the title holders from previous bodybuilding competitions, the standard mandatory poses and a "Fashion Etniko" where the competitors will be wearing attires inspired by the Kadayawan in cooperation with Davao's creative designer, Mr. Garimon Roferos and Postura. Incidentally, Mr. Roferos is a proud Dabawenyo who won in a Paris design competition, the only one from the Philippines.

Major and special awards would be given away to the lucky contestants. Ginoong Kadaywan 2006 will receive a medal, gift certificate, trophy, P10,000 cash and many others. The top five competitors will receive a medal, consolation prizes and grocery products. Special awards for the following will receive a medal: Best Bask, Best Shoulder, Killer Biceps, Red Hot Calves, P.N. Ninte Award (metal look), Best Photo Shot (courtesy of Imagine Digital Portrait Studio), Wash Board Abs, Marvelous Chest, Crowd Favorite, Best Poser and others. Previous winners include Mr. Arnold Quijada on the Middleweight Division in 2003, while Mr. Rey Illanan "Chokoleit" hold on to the title of the Lightweight Division for 2004 and 2005. These two winners now work as Gym Instructor at the Gloritel Gym.

Spearheaded by Mr. Marco Antonio Tamayo, a Physical Therapist graduate from Davao Doctor's Hosital and Mr. Philipines World 2003 title holder, Mr. Tamayo, standing at 6'1.5" and truly moreno, competed in the Mr. World 2003 competition in London and was one of the favorites to win the title. Being a physical therapist and business-minded, he eventually ventured into aerobics and body building business.

He opened "i.FLEX Fitness Gym" which is located at the 2nd Floor of Jaltan Building along City Hall drive Later on, he opened his 2nd health and fitness gym in Toril, Davao City which he named "Hyperflex." He is also the only registered "American Council in Exercise Certified Personal Trainer" in the whole of Davao. The event coordinator for this event is Mr. Kelly Odiong. He works as the operation manager of Hyperflex Fitness Gym and teaches Martial Arts and Boxing. Mr. Odiong was also a runner-up in the Search for Mr. Davao 2005.
